Couleecap Receives $880,000 to Assist Flood Victims

As a result of the terrible August floods of 2007, hundreds of western Wisconsin/Coulee region families sustained substantial damages to their homes. Some families were able to receive insurance payments, some benefited from assistance from FEMA, but the help fell far short for many families. To help those families still in need, the state of Wisconsin has awarded two counties, La Crosse and Vernon, a total of $880,000. The funds were awarded by the Department of Commerce from the Small Cities Community Development Block Grant-Emergency Assistance Program.
