Bob Jones, WISCAP's Public Policy Director, to receive the 2007 Outstanding Public Policy Advocate Award!


The Wisconsin Rental Housing Legislative Council will present Mr. Jones with award at their Annual Meeting, Wednesday, September 26, 2007, in the Capitol Club on the top floor of the Hilton Hotel Monona Terrace.  He was selected to receive this honor in appreciation of his extraordinary commitment, advice and positive involvement with the Council. 

As Public Policy Director, Mr. Jones serves as WISCAP’s staff liaison on energy and housing issues, working with member agencies, executive branch departments and legislators on operational and policy issues in these areas. He has served on numerous workgroups and advisory boards dealing with energy and housing issues and low-income households including a 2 year term on the Community Investment Advisory Council of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago, as a member of the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin’s 22 member Advisory Committee on Electric Industry Restructuring, as a member of a special legislative study committee on Residential Property Tax Exemptions, and was past president and is a current member of the Board of Directors of the Wisconsin Energy Conservation Corporation (WECC). Mr. Jones currently chairs the State of Wisconsin Low-Income Energy Advisory Committee and has served as the unofficial chair of the Wisconsin Collaborative for Affordable Housing since 1998. A member of WISCAP’s staff since 1994, he has 30 years of experience in community action, including 8 years as the Executive Director of the Central Wisconsin Community Action Council, serving five rural-Wisconsin counties. While with Central Wisconsin CAC, he served a 2 year term as President of the WISCAP Association.

In addition to receiving the award, Mr. Jones has been asked to give a presentation during luncheon regarding the various funding options for Window Replacement Legislation. He will also meet with the Community Bankers Association of Wisconsin to  discuss ways to develop new relationships between local housing providers and community banks.
